As our readers may or may not remember, the local Mages Guild has been
going through a spot of turbulence in recent times. Firstly, the colleges
were amalgamated but the buildings weren't. Then many of the facilities
were damaged by the exploding Mathmagician's Tower, and damaged again
through the efforts of the Laughing Companions. Neither of these was
covered in the Guild insurance and, with the disappearance of
GuildMistress Kayley d'Arnaise off to Atlantis, things were looking low.
We are delighted to report, however, that the future is definitely
brightening up. The site of the Mathmagician's Tower has been put to new,
if still magically inclined use. A brand-new, all-singing, all-dancing
Guild building has been completed around the powerful lay nexus and we
understand that the doors are due to open any day now.
The paper understands that, under the leadership of the new
GuildMistress, former Seneschal Illara ri'd Resandor, the idea behind the
merging of the colleges will be implemented in the new Guild's charter.
"We wish to extend the opportunities of all elements to our members." said
the GuildMistress to our reporter, earlier today. "Anyone can learn about
any element, and even how to defend themselves when the power runs out. We
are an education establishment, and we are prepared to teach people what
they want to know."
This enthusiasm for education extends as far as the Citadel. We believe
that Seneschal Ewart Gladrock has great plans for using the Mages Guild
facilities to teach the general populace. Will Illara be using this as an
opportunity to lure more members into the Mages Guild? Watch this spaceĀ…
